This news would make many Lord Balaji devotees of Chennai and TN happy. Devotees of Lord Balaji or Lord Venkatewara visit Tirumala- Tirupati to get his blessings.
It is now said that Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam board or TTD has got plans to build bigger temple in Chennai so that many Chennai devotees of Lord Balaji who could not go to Tirupati could get his darshan in Chennai. This bigger temple would also cater other devotees belonging to the state of TN. This was revealed by TTD chairman, Mr. Y. V. Subba Reddy on Thursday, 22nd August.
He spoke about how TTD board would soon take a decision on building a bigger temple in Chennai city after consulting the chief minister of AP, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He then shed light on the temple built at Kanyakumari and said similarly a decision would be take to build a temple in Chennai too. Point is this new temple would be in addition to the already existing temple in Chennai. The chief minister of AP would have discussions about the land with the government f TN if the need arises.
According to Chennai TTD information centre chief, Mr. Krishna Rao, few years back the then chief minister of TN, Dr. Jayalalitha promised to allocate land for a big temple but it did not come through. He hinted about how TTD is waiting now to get the land to build a big temple. It is worthy to note that initially the total time allotted for special entry was 4 hours and it is now reduced to one and half to 2 hours. This was due to junking of categories (list 1 list 2 list 3) in the VIP darshan system at the Tirupati temple.
It was pointed out by Mr. Subba Reddy, TTD chairman that VIP darshan has not been cancelled but categorisation was only removed as it mislead many devotees. In addition to that, the categorisation helped ticket sales in black market to thrive.
Mr. Subba Reddy explained about how every hour can accommodate 6000 to 7000 devotees. He finally shed light on how the government of AP was committed to eliminate corruption in the entire AP including TTD and how in the last 2 and half months as many as 6 cases were registered and a team of black ticket sellers were caught. It is well known that Lord Venkateswara temple is located in the hill town of Tirumala at Tirupati in Chitoor district of AP.
