Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s `Digital India` dream, consumers will soon be able order new cooking gas connections online. State run fuel retailers are developing a web based system to sell new LPG connections and stoves. They will also launch a four digit emergency response telephone number. This is said to help attend to complaints of leakage. At the moment, many cities have a 10 digit number for the same.
The new system is set to accessible on the fuel retailers` websites and also the government`s Pahal portal. Customers will need to fill in a form for a new connection. Once done, a dealer will be chosen for the consumer and the user will receive an email or message with a customer ID within 48 hours of application. Once the user receives the ID, payment can be made online. Once verification is complete, the consumer will receive the regulator, cylinder and rubber pipe. It is estimated that this process will take 6-7 working days. If consumers do not have a stove, they may buy one online.
Say officials, `The online system will allow prospective consumers to get a connection from the comfort of their home. No more hunting for a nearby dealer or making multiple rounds to the dealership. Dealers also cannot harass prospective customers by insisting they buy a stove.
