Train Tickets Got Sold Out on 20 October from Chennai Drive – Diwali Flash!

The train tickets got sold out within few minutes, once the reservation was opened on Thursday for journey on 20 October, which is two days in advance of Diwali that prevail on 22 October.

Reservation position is on ‘waiting list’ for trains starting from Chennai to Madurai, Tuticorin, Nagercoil, Trichy, Kanyakumari, Coimbatore and various other towns for travel at 20 October.

Waiting list has crossed above 200 almost in all trains while tickets could not be booked for some trains to Madurai as reservation has hit the maximum bounds.

On Thursday, people reached the ticket counters early in the morning and there has been a long queue to book the travel tickets.

Also, the IRCTC has made the online booking system more rapidly by augmenting the power of its servers and thus the online booking was very high.

The number of tickets get booked via online has increased during the festival events when compared to normal days. Nearly above 60 percent of the tickets were getting booked through online, said a senior railway official.

Railways have been recommending people to avoid travel on the occasion of festivals to stay away from heavy rush. Though, there is a huge insist for tickets for journey on the two days earlier to any festival.

Similar kind of rush is anticipated for ticket reservation on Friday, as bookings will be kick off for travel on October 21, said the officials.
