A way to prevent battered roads in Chennai

Aiming to reduce the total number of unauthorized road-cuts made everywhere, the city corporation has come up with a decision not to permit any individual or government agency to dig roads for setting up cables, pipeline connections, etc.
An agency will soon be set up by the corporation and this will take care of any further road cuts required for various purposes. According to this, permission for making these road-cuts will be provided only through online means.
Once the required permission is given, the particular contractor can visit the spot and make necessary road-cuts and is also supposed to perform the required restoration works. On completion, a picture has to be uploaded on the central server.
According to experts, battered road conditions arise only because of these constant digging of roads. When a road is cut, it in turn gets weaker and allows a path for rainwater seepage.
