Special teams to track thieves on EMUs by The Government Railway Police

The Government Railway Police have formed special teams to track those involved in chain snatching and robbery cases on board suburban EMU trains. According to sources, in the last 10 days, there has been a spate of robberies on express trains, especially in Salem. Though there is an armed police escort on night trains, the accused, mostly migrant youths, have now resorted to robbery on day trains. Their modus operandi is to wait for a station to approach and then rob the women and jump out of the train as it slows down.
