Posted on: 04/Nov/2023 10:15:04 AM
A significant initiative is currently underway in Tamil Nadu, where special camps are being held today and tomorrow across more than 68,000 polling stations to facilitate the addition of names to the voter list and make necessary corrections. The Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, Satyapratha Sahu, has reported the receipt of 36,142 applications for name addition and correction so far.

This annual electoral roll revision effort aligns with the directives of the Election Commission of India, typically conducted from September to December. However, in response to current circumstances, the addition of names is now being facilitated quarterly.

The draft voter list was published on October 27, marking the commencement of regular revision work. Since that day, individuals have been encouraged to submit applications for name addition, deletion, address changes, and corrections either online or in person. It has been highlighted that individuals who will turn 18 years old by January 1, 2024, are eligible to add their names to the list.

Satyapratha Sahu, Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, expressed his satisfaction with the public`s keen interest in this endeavor. He noted that a substantial number of applications, particularly from first-time voters, have been received in the past week.

During November 4th and 5th, today and tomorrow, applications for name addition, deletion, address changes, and corrections are being accepted at more than 68,000 polling stations located in 31,000 polling centers throughout Tamil Nadu. In addition, the voter list is available for public inspection, allowing individuals to verify their inclusion. If a name has been unintentionally omitted, applications for reinstatement are being facilitated during this special camp.
