TATA  Consultancy Services (TCS) held its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, July 1st.

Speaking at the event, TCS Managing Director and Chief Executive N. Chandrasekaran said, ‘Digital is a key stream for us going ahead. We are investing in training all our people. This year, we will be training 1,00,000 people in terms of various digital technologies.’ The company has also said that it will hire 60,000 people in FY16.

TCS Chairman Cyrus Mistry also spoke at the meeting. He said that the company had hired 67,000 people in the last fiscal year and looks to hire 35,000 freshers from campuses in the coming year.

He also spoke about the attrition level in the company, which is on the higher side at 14.9%. Mr. Mistry clarified that the attrition level is still lower than that of the industry and that a high attrition shows a healthy IT sector. Among the attrition, women have a higher rate at 15.4%, he said. TCS has over a lakh of women on its payroll.

New initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ may increase home business for the company. Currently, TCS receives only about 6.5% of its total revenue from its home market.
