Beautification of stretches of Gandhi Irwin Road, revamping pavements along Pantheon Road plus many more in Chennai!!

From 3rd August 2023, the Asian Championship Trophy Hockey Tournament will take place in Chennai. For this, beautification works have been going on in various places in Chennai. It is brought out that GCC would carry out these beautification works in the city.
On Monday, the work on beautification of the stretch of Gandhi-Irwin Road near Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium began. This week, the work on the improvement of Gandhi Irwin Road median would begin. This was according to some officers from GCC. The GCC Commissioner Mr. J. Radhakrishnan had met the youth welfare and sports development minister of TN Mr. Udayanidhi Stalin and discussed the beautification works. The GCC Commissioner ordered various officials to finish the work this month.
Mr. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, Region Deputy Commissioner, Corporation north has given instructions to the engineers regarding associating with other agencies to complete the beautification work within the end of the July month.
Identification of the parking spaces for more than 8000 visitors to the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium would be carried out and it would be done by several agencies like police dept etc.Based on the suggestions from the police dept, improvement on the on-street parking around the stadium would be finalised. Ahead of the tournament, the officers from GCC are planning to improve the public transport connectivity to Egmore railway station and Egmore metro station.
By the end of July month, the work on revamp of pavements along Pantheon Road, Ethiraj Salai and improvement of junctions of Adithanar Salai and Gandhi Irwin Road Bridge would be completed.
