Extension of deadline for women hostel registration

There is an extension of deadline for Women’s Hostel registration with Chennai District Collectorate. Recently, on Monday, the previously announced deadline came to an end following which the Chennai District Collector A. Shanmuga Sundaram made a further extension, thus making the new deadline as 15th February 2019.
To note, all the women and children hostels are to compulsorily get registered with the Tamil Nadu Hostels and Homes for Women and Children (Regulation) Rules 2015.
In his note about this, Shanmuga Sundaram says they have so far received 598 applications via mail, post, and in person all of which are for hostel registration. He added that the deadline was earlier promised to be Monday, but an extension is made after a writ petition got filed with the Madras High Court where a request for postponing deadline was requested. On 25th January this year, an enquiry for the same is scheduled.
So, there is a temporary extension of deadline until 5 p.m. on 15th February 2019. The previous deadline was 31st December 2018 which earlier got extended to 21st January.
