Now awareness drive about H1N1 virus in Chennai schools

We have been hearing lots of news about H1N1 virus and dengue affecting many people in the state of Tamil Nadu. Inspite of many efforts taken by the government of TN people getting affected by these are on the rise resulting in many deaths. The latest news that has emerged out is as a part of Chennai city wide campaign against H1N1 and dengue, the Chennai Corporation is taking the awareness drive against H1N1 and dengue to many schools in Chennai. This has been confirmed by the statement released by the civic body.

As per the release from the civic body it is now clear that the civic body has conducted awareness programmes in the Adyar based Annai Velankanni Matriculation School and as many as 1100 students and 50 staffs took part in this campaign against H1N1 and dengue. This had caught the attention of many. The school students belonging to the above mentioned school were shown regarding the spreading of H1N1 virus and various preventive steps that could be taken to avoid this.

It was revealed that washing the hands for around 20 seconds is very essential and by washing 80 percent of H1N1 virus would get destroyed. The school students were also asked to check various symptoms like cold, fever, cough, headaches etc. Aedes mosquito is responsible for dengue fever is known. Life cycle of aedes mosquito plus various steps to prevent breeding of these mosquitoes were shown. It must be taken into account that the students were also shown various life stages of mosquito in an exhibit beginning from the larval stage.
