Rituals are set to begin on June 5 at the Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam for its mahasamprokshanam. The cleansing ritual has been ordered by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at a cost of Rs 10.45 crore. It was during the previous AIADMK regime in 2001 that the ritual was last performed at the historic temple.
A statement from the HR & CE department said the rituals for the mahasamprokshanam would begin with a sudarshana homam between 7.30 am and 8.30 am on June 5, at the 1000-pillared mandapam.
