Indian Railways has expanded its semi-high-speed rail network with the launch of a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Chennai and Narasapur in coastal Andhra Pradesh. The service was inaugurated on December 15, while the return service from Chennai to Narasapur will commence on December 17.

The train is an extension of the existing Dr MGR Chennai Central-Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express and will now operate up to Narasapur. Operated by Southern Railway, the service will run six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.

Covering a distance of 655 km in approximately 8 hours and 55 minutes, the train is expected to benefit daily commuters, business travellers, and tourists. Scheduled stoppages include Renigunta Junction, Nellore, Ongole, Tenali Junction, Vijayawada Junction, Gudivada Junction, and Bhimavaram Town.

As per the timetable, the train will depart Narasapur at 2.50 pm and reach Dr MGR Chennai Central at 11.45 pm. In the reverse direction, it will leave Chennai at 5.30 am and arrive at Narasapur by 2.10 pm.

Passengers can travel in AC Chair Car at Rs 1,635 or Executive Chair Car at Rs 3,030. The train has a total seating capacity of 530 passengers and offers modern amenities, ensuring a faster and comfortable travel experience.

With this launch, Indian Railways continues to strengthen high-speed connectivity in South India, significantly reducing travel time between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
