What is going to happen at Murugan Temple in Palani, Tiruttani and in the Mariamman Temple of Samayapuram?

Master plans would be implemented by HR & CE or Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments dept in 3 major temples in Tamil Nadu. The temples includes Murugar Temple in Palani and Tiruttani and Mariamman Temple in Samayapuram. This was announced by the state govt. An amount of Rs 485 cr would be spent on this.  While presenting the state budget yesterday, the finance minister revealed about the projects.

The basic structures in the temples would not be disturbed and the temples would be renovated. This was pointed out by an officer from HR & CE dept. As per the Agama rules, the renovation works would take place. It must be noted that the basic structures such as tanks, mandapas etc would not be disturbed during the renovation works.

It must be recalled that in 2022 master plan works were carried out in the famous Murugar Temple in Thiruchendur at a cost of Rs 305 crores. Master plan works were also carried out in the Periyapalayam Bhavani Amman temple at a cost of Rs 166 cr and at Ramanatha Swami Temple of Rameswaram at an estimated cost of Rs 146 crores.

Information gathered is that apart from renovation works there would also be consecration ceremonies conducted in the temples. In 2022, the consecration ceremony was carried out in 574 temples  and in 2023 consecration ceremonies would be carried out in 400 temples.

Four thousand four ninety one acres of encroached temple lands worth Rs 4236 cr has been retrieved by the HR & CE dept of the present govt.
