Shiv Nadar completed his schooling in various parts of Tamil Nadu before graduating in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.

In 1976, along with five colleagues, he co-founded HCL (Hindustan Computers Limited) with an initial investment of approximately ₹1.87 lakh. Operating from a modest office in Delhi, the company went on to design India`s first indigenous computer in 1978 and eventually evolved into one of the country`s leading global technology companies.
