1.65 Lakh Applications Received for Inclusion in Voter List in Tamil Nadu
Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India has released key updates on voter registration in Tamil Nadu.
Before the publication of the draft electoral roll, Tamil Nadu had 6.41 crore voters. After the revision process, 97 lakh voters were removed, bringing the current total to 5.43 crore voters.
At present, applications are being accepted for adding new names, deleting names, correcting details, and changing addresses in the voter list. As of yesterday, 1.65 lakh applications have already been received for inclusion of names in the voter list.
Eligible citizens can submit their applications up to January 18.
To support voters, special voter enrollment camps will be conducted at all polling stations on December 27 & 28 and January 3 & 4, allowing voters to complete their applications easily.
This initiative aims to ensure maximum voter participation and accurate electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.
