Egg prices in the Namakkal zone have been witnessing a steady increase over the past few days. According to National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), the egg procurement price was raised by 5 paise on Sunday.
With this latest hike, the farm-gate price of one egg has been fixed at 635 paise (₹6.35) in the Namakkal region.
Reasons Behind the Price Hike
- Increase in egg prices in other zones
- Rising demand for cakes and bakery products ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations
- Seasonal consumption growth during the festive period
Over the last three days, egg prices have increased by 15 paise, reflecting strong market demand.
Retail Prices Impact
Due to the continuous price rise:
- Retail egg prices are now selling between ₹7.50 and ₹8 per egg in local markets.
Traders expect prices to remain firm in the coming days as festive demand continues across Tamil Nadu and other states.
