Tamil Nadu Weather: Heat to Rise Slightly in Interior Districts from Today

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast a slight rise in temperatures across Tamil Nadu’s interior districts from August 28 to August 31.

On Thursday, Tiruchirappalli recorded the highest temperature at 103.6°F. Madurai Airport recorded 102.2°F, while Madurai city and Parangipettai also crossed 100°F.

During the next few days, temperatures in some interior areas could be 2 to 3°C above normal. Other parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to record temperatures close to normal.

Rain Forecast for Tamil Nadu

A weak low-level atmospheric circulation is present along the Tamil Nadu coast. As a result, moderate rain with thunderstorms, lightning and winds of up to 50 kmph is likely in several districts on Friday.

The Western Ghats and Delta districts, along with Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram, may receive rain.

From August 29 to 31, moderate rain is expected in parts of the Western Ghats. Chennai and its suburbs may also receive moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some areas on Friday evening and night.

Heavy Rain Recorded

In the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Thursday, Chinnakallar and Sholayar in Coimbatore district recorded the highest rainfall of 80 mm each.
