PMK Joins Hands with AIADMK and BJP Ahead of Tamil Nadu Elections
In a significant political development, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) led by Anbumani Ramadoss has joined forces with the AIADMK, forming part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami confirmed the alliance, stating that more parties may join the bloc and calling it a "victory alliance."
The announcement was made during a press briefing in Chennai, where both Palaniswami and Ramadoss emphasized their intention to challenge the ruling DMK, which comes after a strong performance in the 2024 parliamentary elections. The AIADMK-led NDA also renewed its ties with the BJP, following a previous split in 2023. With elections scheduled in the first half of 2026, political activity across the state is intensifying.
