Heavy Rain Lashes Chennai and Suburbs

Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has lashed several parts of Chennai and its suburban areas, bringing relief from the prevailing heat and affecting normal traffic movement in some locations.

Rainfall has been reported in Pallavaram, Taramani, Velachery, Guduvanchery, Kattankulathur, Sholinganallur, Thoraipakkam, Madhavaram, Puzhal, Red Hills (Sengundram), Moolakadai, Kolathur, Guindy, T. Nagar, Nandanam, Saidapet, Ashok Nagar, West Mambalam, Kodambakkam and Anakaputhur.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by rain in parts of Chennai and neighbouring areas.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious while travelling, particularly during periods of heavy rain and gusty winds.
