Chennai Metro Introduces Additional Trains on Blue Line | Peak Hour Update
The Chennai Metro Rail Limited has announced the operation of additional metro train services on the Blue Line, considering the steady increase in passenger footfall.
Chennai Metro said the decision aims to reduce waiting time at stations, ease congestion during peak hours, and provide faster and smoother travel for commuters.
With the introduction of these additional services, metro trains on the Blue Line - running between Alandur Metro Station and Washermanpet Metro Station - will now operate at 3-minute intervals throughout peak hours.
Earlier, trains were operated at 6-minute and 3-minute intervals during congestion periods. With the new arrangement, services will be uniformly available every 3 minutes.
The enhanced frequency will be effective during peak hours:
Morning: 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Evening: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Chennai Metro officials said the move is expected to significantly improve passenger convenience and ensure faster, crowd-free travel along one of the city’s busiest corridors.
