Affordable Marriage Halls to Be Built at 10 Locations in Chennai: Minister P.K. Sekar Babu
The Greater Chennai Corporation is constructing 10 low-cost marriage halls across the city to help residents conduct weddings and other social functions at affordable rental rates, said P. K. Sekar Babu.
Under this initiative, a new Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Marriage Hall is being built at Perambur (Chandrayogi Samadhi Road) in North Chennai at a cost of ₹21.50 crore. The project is part of the North Chennai Development Scheme and is nearing completion.

The foundation stone was laid in December 2025, and the marriage hall is scheduled to be inaugurated on the 29th of this month. The minister also announced that 8 marriage halls will be opened by February, with the remaining to follow soon.
This project aims to support middle- and low-income families in Chennai by providing quality event spaces at subsidised rates.
