Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Moderate Rain Likely for Next 6 Days, Fog in Early Morning
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Chennai has informed that light to moderate rainfall is likely across parts of Tamil Nadu for the next six days, along with early morning fog and possible frost conditions.
According to the weather bulletin, a lower-level atmospheric circulation is prevailing over South Tamil Nadu and adjoining regions. Due to this system, coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, may experience intermittent light to moderate rain from December 24 to December 29. Interior parts of Tamil Nadu are expected to remain mostly dry.
During this period, light fog is likely in the early morning hours, especially on Wednesday, December 24, when frost conditions may occur in a few places. Chennai and its surrounding areas are expected to have partly cloudy skies with mild morning fog.
Fishermen Warning
The IMD has also issued a strong wind advisory for fishermen. On December 24, wind speeds may reach up to 65 km/h over:
- South Tamil Nadu coastal areas
- Gulf of Mannar
- Kumari Sea
Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea in these regions due to rough weather conditions.
