4,000 Cats Licensed in Chennai, Say Corporation Officials
Greater Chennai Corporation officials have informed that licenses have been issued for 4,015 cats across the city so far.
According to officials, cats-like stray and pet dogs-are recognised as protected pets in Chennai. Pet dogs and cats are issued licences once they are properly registered with the Corporation.
As part of this initiative, the Corporation has been collecting data on pet cats within city limits. Based on the records compiled so far, a total of 4,015 cats have been licensed in Chennai.

Perungudi: 1,296
Ambattur: 42
Teynampet: 28
Madhavaram: 24
Royapuram: 16
Thiruvika Nagar: 6
Officials said that cat registration is being carried out across all zones of the Greater Chennai Corporation. They added that obtaining a licence helps ensure the safety, health, and proper care of pet cats and also assists authorities in maintaining accurate records.
