Chennai Egmore - Madurai Vaigai and Tiruchirappalli Cholan Express Trains to Run 40 Minutes Late

Southern Railway has announced that the Vaigai Superfast Express and Cholan Superfast Express departing from Chennai Egmore will operate with a 40-minute delay due to maintenance and technical works at the Ponmalai Railway Yard in the Tiruchirappalli Railway Division.

The delay is part of the work being carried out to commission the newly constructed 8th railway line at the Ponmalai yard, which is expected to improve rail operations in the region.

According to the railway notification, the Vaigai Superfast Express (Train No. 12635), scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore for Madurai at 1.15 pm on July 13, 2026, will be delayed by 40 minutes en route.

Similarly, the Cholan Superfast Express (Train No. 22675), scheduled to depart Chennai Egmore for Tiruchirappalli at 8.00 am on July 15, 2026, will also run 40 minutes behind schedule.

Southern Railway has advised passengers travelling on these trains to plan their journey accordingly, as the temporary delay is necessary to facilitate the commissioning of the new railway track and improve future rail operations.
