Pongal Festival 2026: Southern Railway Announces Special Trains to Southern Districts
Ahead of the Pongal festival, Southern Railway has announced special train services to cater to the increased passenger demand travelling to southern districts of Tamil Nadu.
Special Train Schedule
To ensure smooth travel during the festive season, the following special trains will be operated:
Nagercoil – Tambaram: January 11 and January 18
Tambaram – Kanyakumari: January 12 and January 19
Kanyakumari – Tambaram – Nagercoil: January 13 and January 20
Passenger Convenience During Festive Rush
These special trains are being introduced to manage the heavy Pongal travel rush, offering passengers comfortable and timely connectivity between Chennai and southern districts.
Passengers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and book tickets early, as high demand is expected during the festival period.
