Chennai: Fire Breaks Out at BSNL Anna Road Telephone Exchange, Services Affected

A fire accident occurred at the Anna Road BSNL Telephone Exchange in Chennai, causing temporary disruption to telecom services across several parts of the city. The fire reportedly broke out due to an electrical short circuit, following which fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Due to the incident, BSNL services were affected in areas including Triplicane, Vepery, Mylapore, and Egmore. Restoration work continued for several hours, impacting emergency services such as 108 ambulance connectivity and electricity bill payment systems. BSNL officials stated that services are being restored in phases and normalcy is expected soon.
