Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Temperatures to Stay 2-3°C Above Normal Until July 26; Light Rain Forecast

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast that maximum temperatures across parts of Tamil Nadu will remain 2°C to 3°C above normal from July 23 to July 26, even as isolated light to moderate rainfall is expected in several districts.

According to the latest weather bulletin, maximum temperatures have been rising steadily across Tamil Nadu over the past two days due to prevailing atmospheric conditions.

On Wednesday (July 22), Madurai Airport recorded the highest temperature in the State at 106.7°F (41.5°C). Other major locations also witnessed above-normal temperatures:

Madurai City: 104.72°F (40.4°C)
Palayamkottai: 103.1°F (39.5°C)
Tiruchirappalli: 102.02°F (38.9°C)
Chennai Meenambakkam: 101.12°F (38.4°C)
Chennai Nungambakkam: 100.76°F (38.2°C)
Tiruttani: 100.58°F (38.1°C)
Nagapattinam: 100.4°F (38.0°C)

The weather department stated that interior districts of Tamil Nadu, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, are likely to experience temperatures 2°C to 3°C above the seasonal average between July 23 and July 26.

Light to Moderate Rain Forecast

Despite the prevailing heat, the RMC has predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on July 23 and July 24.

The rainfall is expected due to a weak low-level cyclonic circulation prevailing over the Tamil Nadu coastal region. This weather system is likely to bring scattered showers while temperatures continue to remain above normal in many parts of the State.

The weather department has advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and follow official weather updates for the latest forecasts.
