Chennai: Special Pongal Market Opens at Koyambedu

Ahead of the Pongal festival, a special Pongal market has been opened at the Koyambedu market in Chennai starting today. The market has been set up across an area of 7 acres by the Koyambedu market management committee to facilitate festive shopping for the public.
Sugarcane, a key item for Pongal celebrations, will be brought in from various districts including Villupuram, Tindivanam, Cuddalore, Madurai, and Sethiyathoppu. Officials said the special arrangements aim to ensure adequate supply and smooth sales ahead of the festival.
