Tamil Nadu is currently grappling with an intense heatwave triggered by Agni Nakshatram, also known as Kathri Veil. Temperatures are soaring 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal averages. Interior districts like Erode and Karur have reached 111°F, marking a startling 6.7°C surge. Madurai Airport, Tirupattur, Trichy, Tiruthani, and Vellore have peaked at 108°F. Thanjavur has hit 104°F, while Dharmapuri and Chennai have reached 102°F. Fourteen places across the state have exceeded 100°F, including Coimbatore and Cuddalore.

Hope is on the horizon as Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Tirupattur anticipate heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. Additionally, heavy rain is forecasted for the 8th in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, and Tirunelveli.

A slight relief is predicted with a 2°C decrease in maximum temperatures for three days starting from the 7th to the 9th in interior districts. However, some areas may initially experience a 2-4°C rise. Over the next five days, maximum temperatures may reach 111°F in certain North Tamil Nadu plains, while others may reach 104°F. Consequently, heatwaves may persist in one or two interior districts today and tomorrow.
