As announced in the Assembly, at 3 locations in Chennai like Kolathur, Royapuram and Wall Tax Road a/c bus stops would be set up with seating capacity for 78 persons. In Perambur, an a/c bus stop with a seating capacity for 54 persons would be set up. It was brought out that separate toilet facilities for both men and women would be there along with drinking water facilities also. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation has given 4 months for the works to complete.
This work would be carried out for the sake of the public who find it very difficult in the scorching heat in Tamil Nadu
It must be remembered that the air-conditioned bus stops are not new in TN because some 10 years back the facility was introduced in Chennai and in few other places. Lack of maintenance has led to the failure of this project.
