Traffic diversion has been announced on the East Coast Road (ECR) due to a triathlon sports event, according to Chengalpattu District Collector Sneha.
As per the official statement, a triathlon competition is scheduled to be held on January 11 in Chengalpattu district. In view of the event, the East Coast Road (NH-332A) on the Chennai–Puducherry route will be completely closed to traffic from 11:00 PM on January 10 until 2:00 PM on January 11.
The road stretch between Kovalam Junction and Suleri Kadu (Nemmeli) will remain closed, as the competition will be conducted on both carriageways along this route.
Traffic Advisory:
- All heavy vehicles traveling from Puducherry to Chennai are advised to take the Poonjeri – Alathur Bypass (OMR) via Kelambakkam to Chennai.
- The Alathur Bypass–Perur Junction connecting road to ECR will be fully closed.
- Light motor vehicles on the Puducherry–Chennai ECR route will be allowed through the Poonjeri–Kovalam stretch on a two-way basis up to a specified time.
Motorists are requested to follow traffic diversions and cooperate with the authorities to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
