Chennai Water Supply Disruption: Mylapore, Triplicane & Royapettah Residents Alerted

The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has issued an important announcement for residents of Mylapore, Triplicane, Royapettah, and surrounding areas regarding a temporary suspension of piped drinking water supply.

According to the official statement, Chennai Metro Rail Limited will be carrying out major pipeline connection works on Mandaveli Ramakrishna Mutt Road. These works involve linking the main water pipeline that supplies drinking water to the MRC Nagar Water Distribution Station.

Water Supply Suspension Schedule

From: Thursday, 10:00 AM

To: Friday, 10:00 AM

During this 24-hour period, the MRC Nagar Water Distribution Station will remain temporarily shut, resulting in the suspension of piped water supply.

Areas Affected

Piped drinking water supply will be stopped in the following localities:

- Triplicane

- Royapettah

- Mylapore

- Santhome

- Nandanam

- Raja Annamalaipuram

- Mandaveli

Public Advisory

Residents are advised to store adequate drinking water in advance to meet their requirements during the shutdown period.

Emergency Water Supply

For urgent needs, water tankers will be provided by CMWSSB. Residents can register their requests through the official website: https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in

The board has also clarified that water supply through tankers to overhead tanks and street standposts will continue as usual, ensuring essential access to drinking water.

This temporary disruption is part of infrastructure improvement works aimed at strengthening Chennai’s water distribution network.
