Chennai Vegetable Price Hike: Tomato Hits ₹100/kg in August 2025

Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market, tomatoes are now selling at ₹70 per kg, a steep jump from the usual ₹30–₹40 range. In Puzhal and surrounding retail areas, tomato prices have climbed even higher, reaching up to ₹100 per kg.
Other vegetables like small onions (₹65/kg), beans (₹60/kg), garlic (₹150/kg), and peas (₹200/kg) have also seen sharp price increases. Traders warn that prices may stay high until the monsoon ends.
