Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Southwest Bay of Bengal Deep Depression Weakens

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal has weakened into a low-pressure system.
The system is currently located about 490 km from Chennai and 310 km from Karaikal, and is expected to cross the north Sri Lanka coast between Trincomalee and Jaffna later today.
Due to the system, strong winds reaching up to 55 kmph are being experienced in Rameswaram, Pamban, and Mandapam. As a safety measure, the Chennai–Rameswaram Express was temporarily halted at Mandapam Railway Station and will resume once wind speeds reduce.
