Chief Kazi Salahuddin Mohammad Ayub has declared that Ramadan fasting will commence today, as the crescent moon has been sighted. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five primary obligations of Muslims. The announcement of the fasting period is based on the sighting of the first crescent of the month of Ramadan. With the new moon observed yesterday, Chief Kazi Salahuddin Mohammad Ayub has confirmed that Ramadan fasting will commence today, March 12. Ramadan culminates after 30 days of fasting.
