How to Apply for a Death Certificate: Documents Required and Procedure

A Death Certificate is an important document issued by the Government to officially confirm a person`s death, including the fact and cause of death. Registration of a death serves as official proof of the person`s date and time of death. It also helps relieve the deceased from social, legal, and official commitments, settle property inheritance, and enable the family to claim insurance and other benefits.

All deaths should generally be reported within 21 days at the place where the death occurred. In this article, we look at the procedure for obtaining a Tamil Nadu Death Certificate.
