Tamil Nadu Government Reduces Double Registration Charges for New Homes

The Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced a major stamp duty relief for homebuyers by issuing a new government order to control double registration charges. Buyers of newly constructed apartments, independent houses, and villas can now adjust the stamp duty already paid during the construction agreement while registering the final sale deed.
This benefit applies to construction agreements registered before November 30, 2023, helping buyers avoid paying stamp duty twice under the integrated registration system. The decision is expected to lower property purchase costs and boost confidence in the Tamil Nadu real estate market.
