Chennai Egmore Railway Station Redevelopment: Train Services to Face Changes

Several express trains to Chennai Egmore Railway Station will not reach Egmore on select days in September and October due to ongoing Egmore railway station redevelopment works.

The affected trains will be short-terminated at Tambaram, Mambalam or Chennai Beach on specific dates. These temporary changes will remain in effect from September 4 to October 15.

Mannargudi–Chennai Egmore Express

The Mannargudi–Chennai Egmore Express, which departs Mannargudi at 10.50 pm, will terminate at Tambaram instead of Egmore from September 4 to October 13.

Its return service will originate from Tambaram from September 5 to October 14 and will depart at 11.25 pm.

Rockfort Superfast Express

The Tiruchchirappalli–Chennai Egmore Rockfort Superfast Express, which departs Tiruchchirappalli at 10.35 pm, will terminate at Mambalam from September 9 to 15 and again from September 21 to October 14.

Mumbai CST–Chennai Superfast Mail

The Mumbai CST–Chennai Egmore Superfast Mail will terminate at Chennai Beach instead of Egmore from September 12 to 15.

During the same period, the Salem–Chennai Egmore Superfast Express (22154) will also terminate at Mambalam.

Chennai Egmore–Salem Superfast Express

The Chennai Egmore–Salem Superfast Express will originate from Chennai Beach instead of Egmore from September 13 to 16.

The train will depart Chennai Beach at 11.30 pm and Chennai Egmore at 11.55 pm.

Uzhavan Express to Be Regulated

The Thanjavur–Chennai Egmore Uzhavan Express will be regulated at Mambalam/Kodambakkam during the Egmore railway station redevelopment works.

The train will be delayed by around 20 minutes from September 16 to 19 and by 30 minutes from September 22 to October 15.

Passengers Advised to Check Latest Train Updates

The temporary changes have been introduced to facilitate the ongoing Chennai Egmore railway station redevelopment project. Passengers travelling on the affected trains are advised to check the latest train timings, terminal changes and service updates before beginning their journey.

The Egmore railway station redevelopment is aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving passenger facilities at one of Chennai`s key railway stations.
