Southern Railway Announces Diversion of Chennai–Varanasi Express Trains Due to Track Maintenance Works

The Southern Railway has announced that several express trains operating from Chennai to Varanasi and other northern destinations will be diverted between June 18 and June 21 due to track maintenance works at Arakkonam railway yard.

According to an official statement issued by Southern Railway, the temporary changes have been made to facilitate important engineering and track improvement works in the Arakkonam section. Passengers have been advised to check revised routes and timings before travel.

Chennai Egmore–Mumbai Silambu Express Diverted

The Silambu Express (Train No. 22158) departing from Chennai Egmore on June 19 at 6.35 am for Mumbai will operate via Katpadi, Pakala, Tirupati, and Renigunta instead of its regular route.

Chennai Central–Howrah Mail Route Changed

The Howrah Mail (Train No. 1314) leaving Chennai Central on June 20 at 3.50 pm will also be diverted. The train will run through Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Krishnarajapuram, Dharmavaram, and Guntakal.

Tirupati Express Services Modified

The Tirupati Express (Train No. 16203) scheduled to depart Chennai Central on June 20 at 4.35 pm will instead originate from Chengalpattu at 4 pm. The train will not stop at Perambur, Tiruvallur, and Arakkonam stations.

Similarly, the June 21 Tirupati Express service will begin its journey from Tiruttani at 6 pm instead of Chennai Central.

Southern Railway has requested passengers to verify updated schedules and route information before commencing their journey to avoid inconvenience.
