Tamil Nadu Class 8 Public Exam 2026: Online Registration Begins for Private Candidates

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu has started the online registration process for Class 8 Public Examination 2026 for private candidates. The registration commenced on July 1, and the examination will be conducted from August 17 to August 21, 2026.

Candidates can submit their applications only through the designated District Service Centres across Tamil Nadu.

Last Date to Apply

The last date for regular online registration is July 8, 2026.

Candidates who miss the deadline can apply under the Tatkal scheme on July 9 and July 10 by paying an additional late fee.

Application Fee

Examination Fee: ₹125
Online Registration Fee: ₹70
Total Fee: ₹195

For Tatkal applications, an additional ₹500 will be charged.

Eligibility

The registration is open to:

- First-time private candidates.
- Candidates who failed the previous Class 8 Public Examination.
- Candidates seeking to improve their marks.

Candidates who have failed the examination earlier must appear for all subjects as per the existing examination rules.

The Directorate has advised eligible candidates to complete the registration before the deadline to avoid last-minute delays.
