Chembarambakkam Lake Water Level Doubles After Heavy Rainfall in Chennai

The Chembarambakkam Lake, one of Chennai’s main drinking water sources, has seen a sharp rise in water levels after recent heavy rains. The lake now holds 3.14 TMC ft of water, nearly double the storage recorded last year (1.62 TMC ft).
With 837 cusecs of inflow from catchment areas, the water level has reached 22.08 feet. Officials may soon increase water discharge to manage inflow safely. This rise ensures a stronger water supply for Chennai during the coming months.
