Greater Chennai Corporation Introduces Weekly Collection Service for Old Household Items
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has introduced a dedicated weekly service to collect and remove old household items such as sofas, mattresses, and other furniture from residential areas under its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to ensure proper disposal of bulky waste and maintain cleanliness across the city.
According to the Corporation, the collection service will be carried out every Saturday, based on prior information provided by residents. To make use of this facility, the public must register in advance through any one of the official channels offered by the GCC.
Residents can book the service by using the Namma Chennai mobile application, calling the GCC helpline number 1913, or by sending the required details via WhatsApp to the dedicated number 94450 61913.
Civic officials stated that advance registration will help streamline the collection process and ensure timely removal of old and unused items, preventing illegal dumping and improving waste management efficiency in the city.
The Greater Chennai Corporation has urged residents to make use of this free and organized service and cooperate in keeping Chennai clean and clutter-free.
