Chennai Egmore Train Timings Changed from January 1 | Southern Railway Update
To improve operational efficiency and manage passenger movement, the Southern Railway has announced changes in departure timings of several important express trains operating from Chennai Egmore. The revised schedule will come into effect from January 1.
Rail services play a crucial role for passengers traveling from southern districts of Tamil Nadu to Chennai and northern districts, with trains like Nellai, Podhigai, and Muthunagar Express being major lifelines.
Revised Departure Timings from Chennai Egmore
Guruvayur Express:
Now departs at 10:40 AM instead of 10:20 AM
Nellai Express:
Departure time changed from 8:40 PM to 8:50 PM
Chozhan Express (to Tiruchirappalli):
Now departs at 8:00 AM instead of 7:45 AM
Podhigai Express:
From January 1, departs earlier at 7:35 PM instead of 8:10 PM
Rameswaram Express:
Departure changed from 7:15 PM to 8:35 PM
Vaigai Express (to Madurai):
Will depart earlier at 1:15 PM instead of 1:45 PM
Muthunagar Express (to Thoothukudi):
Now departs at 7:15 PM instead of 7:30 PM
Vande Bharat Express (to Tirunelveli):
Departure time revised from 2:45 PM to 3:05 PM
Ananthapuri Express (to Kollam) and Senthur Express (to Tiruchendur) will continue with no change in timings.
Return Journey (Egmore-bound) Timing Changes
Nellai Express:
Departs Tirunelveli at 8:50 PM instead of 8:40 PM
Chozhan Express:
From Tiruchirappalli, departs at 12:10 PM instead of 11:00 AM
Podhigai Express:
From Sengottai, departs at 6:50 PM instead of 6:45 PM
Rameswaram Express:
From Rameswaram, departs at 6:00 PM instead of 5:50 PM
Muthunagar Express:
From Thoothukudi, now departs at 9:05 PM instead of 8:40 PM
No timing changes for the return services of Guruvayur Express, Vaigai Express, Nellai Vande Bharat, and select other trains.

Southern Railway officials have also indicated that revised suburban EMU (electric train) schedules will be released soon.
