Dense Fog Disrupts IndiGo Operations; Flights Cancelled from Chennai, Chandigarhand and Kolkata
IndiGo has cancelled several flights across key sectors today as dense to very dense fog severely disrupted flight operations, particularly at Chandigarh airport, where visibility dropped to near zero.
According to the airline, the majority of cancellations involve flights departing from or arriving at Chandigarh, though select services from Chennai and Kolkata have also been affected. IndiGo stated that the cancellations are a precautionary safety measure to avoid prolonged delays and congestion at airports.
In a travel advisory, the airline said that low visibility conditions continue to impact schedules and urged passengers to check their flight status on the IndiGo website or mobile app before heading to the airport. Travellers were also advised to allow extra travel time, as delays are likely.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that very dense fog has enveloped Chandigarh and nearby regions, with similar conditions reported at airports in Hindon, Agra, Kanpur and Gorakhpur. The IMD has warned that foggy conditions may disrupt road, rail and air travel across parts of north and eastern India.
