Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast: Rain Expected in Western Ghats, Temperature to Rise by 2 - 4°C Till July 16

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of the Western Ghats districts of Tamil Nadu on July 14 and 15, while most other regions of the State are expected to experience predominantly dry weather with isolated light showers.

According to the latest weather bulletin, districts along the Western Ghats are likely to receive light to moderate rain, whereas the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal will generally remain dry, with only isolated places receiving light rainfall.

Rain Forecast

July 14–15: Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in the Western Ghats districts.

July 16: Similar weather conditions are expected, with light to moderate rainfall continuing in the Western Ghats and isolated light rain over other parts of Tamil Nadu.

July 17–19: Moderate rainfall is likely at isolated locations in the Western Ghats districts.
Temperature Forecast

The weather department has predicted that maximum temperatures may increase by 2°C to 4°C across isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal between July 14 and July 16. From July 17 onwards, there is no significant change expected in daytime temperatures.

The maximum temperature during this period is also expected to remain 2–4°C above normal in several places.

Heat and Humidity Advisory

Due to the combination of high temperatures and elevated humidity, residents of coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience heat discomfort on July 14 and 15. People are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.

For Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is likely to be 38–39°C, while the minimum temperature will be around 28–29°C. The city may experience hot and humid conditions, leading to heat discomfort during the day.
