In Chromepet in Chennai is present MIT or Madras Institute of Technology and it is one of the renowned educational institutions in Tamil Nadu. This MIT is making sensational news now!!
Point is that in MIT as many as 67 students have tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday. The institute would be closed for a week of time. It is now brought out that the Covid 19 infected students who are hosteliers were shifted for isolation in another building inside the campus
On Tuesday, as many as 1417 samples were taken from MIT students and staff and on Wednesday 400 samples were collected. This was according to some health officials. Totally, there are 1659 students studying in MIT Chennai. It must not be forgotten that on 30th December 7 students tested positive for Covid-19 infection and on 2nd January another 7 tested positive here. All 14 were sent to their homes for isolation. On Wednesday, a cluster of 53 Covid-19 infected students emerged after testing.
It was pointed out by an officer that the Covid-19 infected students have been isolated in a separate building that has separate facilities for boys and girls. The superb piece of information is that these students are recovering well now. The formation of Covid-19 cluster at MIT was because of the interaction of students with one another on multiple occasions in the hostels. Option of returning to their homes has been given for those students who have tested negative for the infection. The MIT premises have been disinfected.
