500 tonnes of Toor dal demanded by Tamil Nadu Government

The Tamil Nadu government started selling Toor dal at subsidized rates through 91 TUCS, co-operative and Amudham stores across the State in a bid to ease the burden of the common people in the wake of recent increase in prices of Toor dal. The scheme was launched on Sunday. On the first day of the sale at the co-operative shops 27 tonnes of subsidized Toor dhal sold on the first day of the sale at the co-operative shops.
The State has requested the Centre to grant another 500 tonnes to ensure that the market price comes down.
Toor dal is being sold in half kg and one kg packs at Rs 55 and Rs 110 respectively.
