Posted on: 10/May/2014 5:55:38 PM
The increased number of centum scorers in physics and chemistry in +2 examinations this year has created a situation that is likely to have a hike in cut-off percentage for MBBS by 0.5 to 1 per cent.

The cut-off for MBBS and BDS higher studies is calculated with 50 per cent marks from biology and 25 per cent mark from physics and chemistry each. In 2013, there were 36 centum scorers in physics and 1499 in chemistry in +2 exams. This year, students have scored increased number of centum with 2710 in physics and 1693 in chemistry. This increase in number has created a state that the cut-off mark for medical seats may be increased by 0.5 to 1 per cent this year. Earlier, students required to score 198.25 per cent for medical seat in government colleges. Now, it might be 198 per cent this year.

However, officials have clarified that there will be no such hike in cut-off percent with B.E or B.Tech studies.
