Becoming a doctor is most students’ dream. When asked ‘what is your aim in life?’ the answer from most school going kids would be ‘become a doctor’. This however vanishes in the course of higher studies. Only a few are left determined to take serious steps to accomplish the goal.

The game is however getting a mere business day by day. The current scenario is that you’ll have to spend over Rs 80 lakh to grab a medical seat. Owing to the increasing demand for donation at medical colleges, the health department has come up with a strong note that immediate actions will be taken upon receiving any complaint about such strict donation demands.

In Tamil Nadu, there are 19 government medical colleges. All together count for 2555 MBBS seats. Out of this number, 15 per cent of them are allotted for national quota and balance is for state government.

Furthermore, there are over 12 private medical colleges with 1560 MBBS seats. Out of this 914 are allotted to fill candidates via government and rest is allotted for the college itself. These seats are reported to have been charged up to Rs 80 lakh which has left parents astonished.
