The medical experts have warned that in the coming weeks the number of Corona virus positive cases would increase in TN and in Chennai. This has set the alarm bells ringing.

Chennai city had as many as 804 Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday 31st of May. Asymptomatic persons who have been in contact with the Corona virus persons would also be tested soon by the officials in various zones like Royapuram, Tondiarpet, Thiru- Vi-Ka Nagar, Kodambakkam, Anna Nagar and Teynampet etc.

An assistant engineer explained about how extended contacts would also be tested for Corona virus infection. More testing centres would be opened soon for testing. He concluded that in the past the testing centres functioned on alternate days but they would be opened every day hereafter.

The slum dwellers would be more vulnerable now as they would be travelling to the city for their work and for other activities. It has been highlighted by Mr. J. Radhakrishnan, special officer for Covid-19 for GCC that the officials need not worry about the numbers. The officials have to identify every contact in the slums, test them and make sure that the slum dwellers are aware of the precautions.

The officials of Chennai Corporation would be going to every house in the slum for the purpose of testing. Mr. Radhakrishnan then spoke about how in the next week Chennai might cross 1000 cases a day.

According to Mr. P. Madhusudhan Reddy, Chennai Corporation deputy commissioner, health, out of 1094 contacts of Covid-19 positive persons tested on Sunday 500 were family members.
